Ruggerbugger review

I was in two minds about the tour area of Ruggerbugger. On the one hand it really looks pretty amateurish and not especially attractive, but yet there are details and preview images of dozens of the guys that are featured in the members' area. There are one or two short sample videos as well. So what it lacked in looks it made up for in details!

The members' area though isn't quite such a mixed affair - it's actually slightly worse. Whilst it may have an alphabetical listing of all the different videos and galleries they have on board, these do not separate the videos nor the photo galleries, and that is I think the least you could have asked of this site. Information about updates wasn't that forthcoming either with their 'news' section being slightly inadequate.

The videos on the site could be downloaded although there was no embedded or off-site streaming options. The videos usually were sized at 640x480px although this wasn't always the case. They are usually presented in .WMV files. The galleries don't have .ZIP files with them and because of the nature of them, they are usually pretty small. There are over 600 videos on the site with over 20,000 images as well.

The first thing that struck me about RuggerBugger.com is that there is perhaps a natural bias towards football and rugby - not entirely surprising considering the nature of those sports and their popularity. But this site, while having mined a large amount of stuff, some of which is impressively obscure, could be missing out on an absolute pile of other guys too. Just think of what they could boast if they expanded, say, their tennis or even professional wrestling content?

That said, this is still impressive stuff and pretty up to the minute as well. They didn't waste any time finding pictures of Arsenal footballer Nicklas Bendtner's trouser problems outside a nightclub, not Alexandre Pato's webcam adventures! And while the navigation was unsatisfactory at best, the actual quality of their photos and videos was very good indeed. If they could do more with that navigation, it would elevate this site that much more.
