NFL '21 Season Thread

As a Steeler fan, yesterday was bittersweet. Going into the day I was hoping for a victory over the Ravens and the Colts beating the Jags. That way, the season ends nicely. After losing 36-10 a couple weeks back to the Chiefs there was no reason to revisit the nightmare.

Now they get to go to KC as 13-point underdogs. It should be ugly, but upsets do happen.

Speculation is that last night's game was Aaron Rodgers' last in a Green Bay uniform. The Packers are going to be in dire straits from a salary cap perspective and may be going into a rebuild.

Congrats to the Bengals and 49ers for advancing.

Sean Payton is leaving the Saints after 16 years. As a Panthers fan, I obviously was not a member of the Sean Payton fan club. I will not dishonor his memory with lies. He has a very punchable face and he strikes me as the kind of person who is rude to waitstaff and doesn't tip well. Yet, in some perverse way, there will be a part of me that will miss him.

Sean Payton announced he's stepping away from coaching.

Payton is not necessarily permanently retiring but instead deciding to take a break after 15 years as New Orleans' head coach. The 58-year-old's .631 win percentage since 2006 ranks fourth-best in the NFL, trailing only the Patriots, Packers and Steelers in that span. Payton made the playoffs in nine out of 15 seasons with the Saints, winning seven division titles and New Orleans' first and only Super Bowl. The team's next coach will inherit -$74,061,841 in cap space and a vacancy under center.

Yeah - with NO being $74M (!!) over the cap for 2022 - I'd leave town too! :poop:

The internet cannot be wrong can it? He is also the most sacked QB. Brady, with 12 more sacks, can pass him if he returns

His career certainly is tainted by the off-field issues earlier in his career. As the 5th leading passer on NFL history, he would seem to qualify on those merits.

It is being reported that Tom Brady is retiring after 22 seasons. He ends his career as the most accomplished player to ever set foot on a professional football field. I think the case can be made that he is the most successful athlete in history. I am happy I got to watch him even when I was rooting against him.

Wonder if anyone predicted Bengals vs Rams for the Super Bowl at the start of this season.

Also, Tom Brady may not be retiring.

I picked the winners of both teams in the Conference Championships - at "that" point. Beginning of the playoffs, I liked BUF over GB in the SB. Whoops.

I'll go with the Rams. Better DEF and O-Line.

Love comes and goes but FreeOnes is forever.
Can't remember enjoying a sport this much... playoffs were absolutely AWESOME this year!

Here's my prediction for Super Bowl LVI 🏈

Rams - 38
Bengals - 20

Since the over/under is 48.5, I'll [obviously] be taking the over. ;)
